Jennifer Lopez to star in film noir movie “Dead Serious”

In  a recent interview Martin Landau revealed:

I’m going to do a movie with Jennifer Lopez next, which I’m executive producing, as well.

Capone: You are?

ML: I’m acting in it.

Capone: What’s it called?

ML: “Dead Serious”. It’s a film noir, like “Postman Always Rings Twice”, “Double Idemnity”. It’s got that kind of quality. We had hired a director who didn’t get it and did a rewrite and it was abysmal, and we gave him another shot at it and it was worse. He didn’t get it, so we are now in the process of getting another director, but anyways that’s next.

That was out of the blue! I can totally see Jennifer in a Sin City kind of modern-type film noir but I hope she will only take on the role if a big director or movie studio is attached! Here’s a description of ‘film noir’ for the people who don’t know what kind of movie type it is.

Film noir is a cinematic term used primarily to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, particularly those that emphasize cynical attitudes and sexual motivations. Hollywood’s classic film noir period is generally regarded as stretching from the early 1940s to the late 1950s. Film noir of this era is associated with a low-key black-and-white visual style that has roots in German Expressionist cinematography, while many of the prototypical stories and much of the attitude of classic noir derive from the hardboiled school of crime fiction that emerged in the United States during the Depression.

And here’s the trailer for “Double Idemnity.”

  1. This sounds intresting. Cant wait to hear more about it. :D

  2. I’m real excited bout this!
always wanted her to do a film noir inspired music video
been a while she played a sexy character in a movie, so yeah looking forward to it

  3. Very Interesting

  4. This is great news, but seriously can she not go on tour or something. Cause these films will keep coming and coming and her chance to do a tour is becoming less and less. They’re fans all over the world who are dieing to see her live, especially some of us europeans that rarely get a chance to see Jennifer. I mean these films are gonna continue to take up her time, I love her films so much and this sounds brilliant but lets pray a tour does follow after this new album.

  5. i from the small island MALTA and always with the hope that i could see her make a concert in my country. Every summer we so the isle of MTV and lots of singers came like Akon,Enriqure Inglesias,Black Eyed Peas,Lady Gaga,Maroon5 etc but i wish to see JENNIFER!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. WOW where did this came from…. Very interesting. I wouldn’t have pictured Jennifer in a film noir.

  7. amazing news!! I think Jennifer should focus herself more on her movie career.. I mean she is a good singer, but she is way better at acting!

Thanks for keeping us updated :)

  8. This is such wonderful news! This is the sort of film that people will possibly call a “classic.” I’m so excited to find out more…
